Disclosure...Coke stock holder. So many people are dropping Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite...They feel the carbonated drinks may not be good for them. It is what it is...Not arguing that point. People still buy the stuff. So I went into a Togo's restaurant (West Coast sandwich chain...Higher quality). I went to their Coke machine...Modern newer model. It had real lemonade available. Not some junky brand...But the real stuff. Coke with their buying prowess, can buy as much lemon juice as they need. When people look for value meals the may go with it, because of the quality of the stuff. It just looked like a shrewd marketing maneuver for the future...
ALL unhealthy fast foods (McDonalds, Subway ...), all unhealthy concentrated sugary drinks (Coke ....), all unhealthy snacks (Lays ...) tastes extremely extremely nice. Those food factories employ thousands of scientists to make sure the food is addictive. And they use treats or tricks to attract customers. Everyone knows that those foods/drinks are unhealthy. But Only those who have near-death experiences might (might only) change their eating habit. Some people prefer to die happily eating unhealthy food rather than die unhappily eating healthy and not tasty food. One thing is rather certain; unhealthy food/drink stock prices will go up and up. But don't expect it to go up exponentially.
Warren Buffet's "wide moat" is why I like it. They don't need to advertise...It's in every country except maybe North Korea!! Last time I looked it has a 3.3% dividend. You can do a covered call (for extra income) and almost totally be assured it wouldn't get called away. For a value/covered call person...An ideal stock.
They do have a wide moat... but that wide moat encompasses a lot more than just a name, albeit one of the world's most recognized names. It entails canning and bottling across a myriad of geographic locations, logistics, distributors, salespeople, established relationships with the powerhouse retailers, and most important of all, the amount of shelf space they control with those retailers. Coke and Pepsi are #1. But if you follow my posts regarding stocks, ... there's another company, that while not the behemoth that KO and PEP are, and certainly not beneficiaries of the mania that Monster and Celcius have enjoyed, they have been scrapping and fighting in this game for years. And tbh, they have actually not done too bad in that battle. And in the areas I mentioned above, canning, logistics, distribution, retail footprint.... they are still there. With brands few probably buy. But they're there in a big way. I have followed this stock for years. The CEO is 89. His son runs the company, and he is 64ish. They actually have a great balance sheet too. I write this because I think their entire operation will get bought out. The stock? FIZZ They report soon, and it'll probably tank, but anything around $47 or below.... buy it and forget you own it. The intrinsic value of this company, their brands aside.... is gold. ~vz
Togo's & Quizno's were the best sandwich chains especially here in SF bay area. The toasted sandwiches at Quizno's were my favorite. The only good sandwich at Subway was the Meatball sub.
Tuna on 9 grain honeyoat, with x-tra--- x-tra spinach, and everything else, hold the olives... pepperjack cheese.... 3/4 of the way toasted.
It is almost impossible to make unhealthy food at home. To make unhealthy food at home, you need to have - huge storage space for > 50 toxic chemicals / ingredients / additives/colors - huge storage space for HFCS, salt - high temperature and pressure cooking equipment to torture the food - hydrogen to hydrogenate the food to make it more toxic Even if you can make unhealthy food at home, it will be very costly. The result will be extremely tasty additive food. Mega food factories can make unhealthy food at a very low price.
For years and years and years and years I have heard how disgusting dominoes pizza is how fake it is and how processed and cheap it's made.....that it's not real pizza.... Well once again it's the stock price that has shown the real deal In the last year alone the stock is up 43% Over 5 yrs 78% and if you got in around the ipo days it's up over 3000%!!!
Faking stuff works. Facebook is fake social interaction. Coke is fake drinks. Dominoes is fake pizza. I don't consume any of it, but I sure own these stocks.
