COIN's earnings are coming up this week. Due to the 2022 nasdaq Tech-Wrek trend, it seems that unless COIN has stellar earnings, she's going to fall 20-30% in a single day. I've been debating on shorting shares. Worth the gamble?
Rather than the risk of a short, why not look at puts? Possibly they are expensive with the volatility currently, but may get more expensive, plus if it does crash 20-30% may have a real nice pop. I am far from an options expert, but shorting right now could be real painful relative to potential gain.
I suggest a great premarket short game in COIN, yes most probably the volumes were bad, so the price will drop even more, and people in longs (pain) will struggle more and this will be happening for few hours )
The fact that ARKK has been buying COIN is giving me even more conviction to short it. Will still think on this for a bit. I am debating on shorting shares just before Earnings, then closing out next day, following up with shorting 30-delta PUTs for 60-90 DTE while the dust has settled.
Alright, I think I'm going to pass on this gamble. With crypto markets in the crash again, I decided to put my money on the line there for the time being. With COIN down almost 7% for the day, I hope Cathie Wood gets her anal-lube ready, because ARKK is going to need it.
