Man, this is awesome. Dead on Arrival. What a losing streak CNN has been on in the last six months. The clowns don't even know how to clown anymore. CNN+ will shut down April 30, just one month after launch KEY POINTS Warner Bros. Discovery has decided to shut down CNN+ just weeks after it launched. CNBC reported last week fewer than 10,000 people were watching CNN+ each day. CNN+ head Andrew Morse is leaving the company. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/04/21/cnn-is-shutting-down-effective-april-30-sources-say.html
Apparently not Chris Wallace. He jumped ship at Fox to go for a very quick cruise on the Titanic. Not to worry. They will move him over to regular CNN networking and maybe that will work out for him. But he always had that option and never wanted to go there so that is not a zippy arrangement.
From a Newsweek guest opinion piece on April 4: "Wallace has started the twilight of his career with CNN+. The new streaming offering is a bit of a head-scratcher. It's inexplicably meant to supplement a cable news network that has underperformed for years. If no one watches the parent product, it seems hard to imagine its streaming offshoot will garner many eyes." Yeh well. Hard to argue against the truthiness of that either before, during, or after the fact.
Not surprising. They sent most of the staff of CNN+ packing in the past week. But we should note it took minutes for a Russian warship to sink. CNN+ took over a month.
CNN has become quite a dumb network...A far cry from what it was when the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait started, and people in a new generation got to see the opening of the Gulf War live on television in 1991. That was breaking news. These days, and especially since the Ukraine thing started, EVERY SINGLE RETURN FROM COMMERCIAL IS "BREAKING NEWS!" It's like, no, nothing new has happened between commercial breaks. Nothing new has happened in days. Russia is bombing Ukraine into smithereens. It's not fucking breaking news every single day all day long for 2 months. Dumbasses.
Anyone remember the "Shock and Awe" bit from 2003? THAT was breaking news. You can hear the cruise missiles coming in to take out targets. Man, what a difference 20-30 years makes at CNN.
Yeah CNN was great in its hay day but it was probably a consequence of limited competition & the Ted Turner effect. He was a Branson/Musk type character with a lot of charisma.
