I doubt its volume is going to be fantastic. after so many years, the micro BTC futures volume is still very pathetic at around 20k/day. CME should understand why volume is so pathetic before launching the BTC & Ether options. by comparison, micro NQ futures volume is around 2000k/day.
+1 Thing is that CME clearing and settlement infrastructure is too slow and outdated for processing a 24/7/365 market. That's why CME's crypto market will always be a market for boomers who can barely handle an iPhone or HFs who are to lazy to setup an offshore subsidiary to be able to play in the real crypto derivatives market
I am definitely setting my calendar for March 28. Have never traded Futures Options (yet) and happy to get the experience. Well no shit Bro. Did someone think they just reversed their ban on Bitcoin for the fun of it?
IB did not let their customers trade bitcoin options on futures. I wonder if they allow the smaller contract?
If they do, most likely there will be a scheduled video lecture on it before hand. They've done this with GME Group and others lots in the past.
Does anyone know a broker that allows crypto futures options? I can confirm as of today that: Charles Schwab allows only the full-size BTC contract, but no options. TD Ameritrade allows all four crypto contracts, but no options.
