Clueless in America

  1. Just shakin' my head.

First to the left. Then to the right. Then left-right- left-right.

As I say on occasion to Usual Tard, one of the reasons why the gun problem is getting worse is because we/America is raising or importing a lower quality citizen or resident or squatter. There are reasons why an increasing number of people should not own guns that are not related to criminal history or because guns are inherently nasty. It is because they are lost in space, have no sense of right and wrong, or sense of responsibility to family or country or humanity. Just low-lifers.

Exhibit A below shows an example of a person who dwells on the lower rungs of humanity.

Toto, We are not in Kansas anymore.

Just having a discussion about this - she just doesn't seem to register what killing 2 people means...I'm terming it "The Biden Effect" - where you do something, you don't identify has having done something, and expect to get ice cream afterwards.

    Unreal.

Yeah, definitely need some serious regulations to stop all kinds of people from getting guns in America. But the truth is whether you have a mental heath issue, violent criminal history, or just a poor upbringing/disposition you can get a gun in America. Whether through legal channels or illegal ones.

You would think stopping shit bags from getting guns would be a no brainer but it turns out you can’t even convince the people with brains to put up restrictions.

As to the generational issue of child rearing, let’s be honest the previous generations were doing such a piss poor job they had to be reminded every night to make sure they knew where their kids were.

  5. Same old, same old with your ilk.

Society and cities and the nation collapsing and you can't think of a single thing that is not better today. Unless it is something negative that you think you can hang on republicans. Then it becomes your mantra.

You shill for the dems 24/7. While civilized society collapses and the dems cheer it on and cook up new ways for it to collapse even faster.

Well society may be collapsing, I will give you that. The nation and cities are actually comparatively doing well over their stewardship of previous generations. The guns though, that is a problem that will continue to grow no matter what until there are some national laws curbing irresponsible sales and ownership. No matter how low crime goes or how high educational attainment gets, the free flow of guns will only lead to growing gun violence.

Let me ask you a question, why do soldiers and law enforcement officers have the highest rates of suicide?

  7. The usual. An excess of seeing the worst part of life and society and an absence of a support system at best in regard to their many unique sufferings- and at worst society hates them for doing their dirty work.

Did I walk into some trap there, or just state the obvious?

Probably you want to say it is because they have had access and exposure to guns and I will say again that I grew up in culture where everyone had guns but not the shit and mental health problems to go with them, and around and around we go.

IMHO that's not what that message was about. It was more a reflection of the times when kids could go out at night alone and they were perfectly safe. They were independent, and parents were loose in enforcement of curfews. That wasn't a bad thing.

It’s no trap, it’s a discussion. Most suicides of cops happen at small departments where there isn’t the trauma and stresses of the larger departments. Not saying there is none just not usually as high as the urban areas. Most soldiers don’t see combat either. Yet both groups are at much higher risk for suicide and the method of suicide is highly likely to be gun shot. The groups obviously have a necessary higher exposure to guns and yes this plays a very big factor.

However, the point was not to drag law enforcement and soldiers through the wringer, the point was that it’s the guns themselves that play a factor and availability absolutely increases use.

You contend it’s the quality of the American people and a deterioration of the country by and large but the facts don’t add up. There are problems but this isn’t the 1990s in terms of violence or the 1980s in terms of parental neglect. We may be in a heightened state of drug use though which is very concerning onto itself.

  10. Our friend Usual Tard getting a bit uppity in regard to earlier generations allegedly not providing adequate supervision or allowing more independence for their children.

First, independence was considered to be a desirable goal by both the growing children and the parents, within reason. Otherwise, you end out with a generation that is still living in their parents house at the age of thirty or forty. hint..hint.

Second, it is the earlier generations what would be appalled at the lack of supervision of children today, where needed. People getting uppity about what kids were doing out and about in earlier days- meanwhile their 14 year old daughter is home safe and sound every night in her room chatting with her 50 year boyfriend and looking at the nude pictures he sends her on the internet every night. Every time period has its own challenges.
