https://www.cnbc.com/2021/08/04/shipping-made-in-china-products-run-into-new-logistics-problems.html Well once they get all of their logistics problems resolved, we will carry out technology theft and also force them to do technology transfer by setting up venture partnerships with them with us having larger share of their companies like what they did with the Disney theme park venture in Shanghai. “When you dig through it, the early pioneers — the Lenovos, and the Haiers and the Huaweis — to me look more like real exceptions rather than the (avant-garde) who are sort of blazing a trail for lots and lots of Chinese multinationals..." Uh one word of correction: For the record, Lenovo is NOT a Chinese company. It's a stolen err bought up established western brand IBM.
You got one thing right tho. China Communist Party doesn't care about companies like Lenovo. I heard the founder of Lenovo is considered a race traitor in China. And his daughter did the IPO for Didi that CCP tried ever so hard to shut down. So nope, Lenovo is definitely not a "Chinese" company.
Lenovo is a Chinese company, with headquarters in China since it's founding. In my mind that makes them a Chinese company by every definition of the idea. They bought IBM in the mid 2000s.
Nope. Chinese government and ppl don't consider Lenovo a Chinese company. The founder/CEO is widely considered a race traitor in China. His daughter is the head of Didi and worked at/with Goldman Sachs to push the Didi IPO thru at the objection of the CCP. So imagine the repercussion back to Lenovo founder in the wake of this...
Lenovo is IBM, period. It can have Chinese ownership; it can be located in China but it will ALWAYS be IBM.
Design wise, the venerable T series of laptops still looks the same post-IBM. I really like the layout. However, the design may wear out later in the future at which point Lenovo's future designers may deviate or fall behind. They will milk it until it is antiquated. And, I consider them Chinese based on where they are Headquartered. IBM makes no money from Lenovo sales anymore.
Doesn't matter. The geographical location of where the product is managed or made is not going to change who owns the brand. Royce Rolls might be bought by the Germans but it's still a British brand. They can buy the physical brand but they can never buy the soul of the brand. Lenovo is always IBM.
