  3. Consider New Deal after WW2 built 35 million homes and 50,000 miles of highway while China was asleep. They are playing catch up of sorts.

    Yeah you could call the New Deal America's socialist undertaking.
    At that time, Japan was invading China while it was in the midst of giving birth to a nation, pitting the elite nationalists against the poverty stricken peasants and laborers under the communist banner. And the rest is history.
