    Bank of China’s Singapore operation has stopped financing deals involving Russian oil and Russian companies, amid concerns of western sanctions following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, said a source on Monday (Feb 28) with knowledge of the matter.

    Bank of China did not immediately reply to requests for comment. …

    At least two of China’s largest state-owned banks are restricting financing for purchases of Russian commodities, underscoring the limits of Beijing’s pledge to maintain economic ties with one of its most important strategic partners in the face of Western sanctions.

    ===========================

    China is Russia's biggest hope to weather the sanctions. If China support weakens, Putin is in even deeper trouble than he already is.

    Ouch, Russian bank accounts in Switzerland.
    Russia can probably win the war in Ukraine, but they lose support from almost the entire world. Putin surely never expected that as the Western countries were in past always very soft.

    Not only Putin can surprise us, we can surprise him too.

    Russia is in a deep hole. As Russians say, "в глубокой жопе".

    Putin has no way to win. Enormous miscalculation, he is completely cornered now. The sanctions make Russia a pariah state. I am starting to see articles in state-controlled Russian press actually complaining about complete isolation of Russia when they got used to be part of the world.

    Russians at some point will realize that the only way they can get out of the hole is topple Putin, blame it all on him, withdraw the military from Ukraine and apologize. Otherwise the country has no path forward. None. It's a third world country with nuclear weapons and natural resources to sell. All the opportunities to develop into something more have been wasted over the last few decades.

    I hope you're right, but I don't think Putin is gonna back down.
    I think he would rather die than lose this fight.
    I'm gonna do some selling Tues.
    I should have sold today and Friday.
    This is a freight train and I'm gonna get off the tracks for a while.
