China is designing more and more hardware in their homeland. Moore Threads announced a new graphics card for gamers, the MTT S80, which is the first in the world to support PCIe 5.0. This is in addition to the MTT S3000, a GPU for gamers. AI and the speeding up of the data centre (Artificial Intelligence).

This means a new competition & concurrency for Nvidia and AMD by this new Chinese company named "Moore Threads".
Ie. it can affect their stock price negatively...
The above linked news say that the GPUs will be available in the shops starting today (Friday).

US fugged & furious, b/c its idiotic & shameful sanctions not working... :D

    Update:
4096 cores sounds impressive. I wonder if one can use them also for normal technical computations, ie. as a vector processor...

  2. This was posted originally in Wall Street News b/c it's about the stocks of NVDA and AMD,
but this mod has moved it to here...

    "4096 cores sounds impressive."

Depends on how efficient each core is.

"Moore Threads says that depending on clocks, its Chunxiao GPU can deliver 14.4 FP32 TFLOPS or 15.2 FP32 TFLOPS, which is comparable to single precision compute performance of Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3060 Ti GPU."

nVidia's older GPU cores are more efficient. NVDA up 15% today. Market not impressed. Also, China has a long way to go on semiconductor manufacturing. They are several process nodes behind Taiwan, South Korea, and US (which is why they want to invade Taiwan to take TSMC's tech). Intellectual property theft can only take you so far:

And again this thread should be in "Politics" as this is another pathetic attempt by the OP to shove his Chinese propaganda in people's faces by deliberately creating this thread in the "Hardware" category knowing very well that the "Hardware" category is to be used for threads that discuss hardware used in trading. This GPU is used in gaming which has nothing to do with trading. @Baron just talked about this.

Well for one thing, Trump was the first president that's been alerted to the unbalanced trade between the USA and China and how China was abusing the "comparative advantage" in international trade to turn it into absolute advantage for China to achieve world domination and subsequently did something about it. And it's because Trump called China out that China finally revealed its true colour. If not for Trump, we would still be deceived by the "peaceful" facade that China puts on and forever live in blissful ignorance of reality while our cities and towns become poorer and poorer and China becomes richer and richer and one day conquers us and turns us into mindless slaves.

If you think Trump is a dictator, well, it takes one dictator to expose another. And it takes one dictator to defeat another.
