“I wake up at 4:30 in the morning every single morning. I say the Pledge of Allegiance to my five-year-old and my three-year-old. In fact, they say them now, um, and they do so beautifully. Then I say the Lord’s Prayer and I say two other family prayers that we have, and then I make them say something that's meaningful to them," Trump said. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/poli...he-pledge-of-allegiance/ar-AA1555X5?ocid=EMMX Not going to lie, this might be the funniest thing I've ever heard any Trump say in my life. The image of Eric Trump waking up his kids every morning at 4:30 to recite the "Pledge of Allegiance" is just too much. I really hope he is lying for his kids sake. This sounds like something from the Onion.
I don't know if he's trying to troll or thinks this is something socially conservative Americans do. It just sounds like a satirical SNL skit. I hope they make one of this.
I actually think it's time to get rid of the stupid pledge. One, it's very cult-like. We are forcing kids, many of whom don't even understand what they're saying, to blindly follow some doctrine. Because of what? If you want a country full of critical thinkers who can reason and work through problems, this is not the way to go. Two, it's a waste of time. The Pledge of Allegiance takes about 15 seconds. Kids go to school about 180 days per year and it's said in K-12. This is 9 hours and 45 minutes of their life wasted on something that is a complete waste of time.
Then wake them up 1 hour earlier each day in those 12 years for just 10 days, and force them to say an hour of Hail Marys. There. You have saved them from being indoctrinated into anything, and saved 15 minutes of their life! And their souls from hell! I mean, seriously?
Did you hear how he stole monies meant for children with cancer charity and funneled it to their own businesses. Eric Trump funneled cancer charity money to his business: Forbes reported Tuesday that the Eric Trump Foundation paid the Trump family business hundreds of thousands of dollars over the last seven years for use of one of the organization's golf courses, funds which he claimed were being donated nearly in full to the children's cancer charity. According to IRS filings, the Eric Trump Foundation in 2012 spent $59,085 on its annual Golf Invitational fundraiser held at the Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, New York -- money that skimmed from donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Those expenses ballooned to $230,080 in 2013 and to $242,294 in 2014, according to the filings.
The Eric Trump Foundation raises $1.5 million with annual golf event The seventh annual Eric Trump Foundation Golf Invitational at the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, New York, raised $1.5 million for the kids of St. Jude in a star-studded event September 9. More than 500 supporters gathered to celebrate the partnership of St. Jude and The Eric Trump Foundation, which recently pledged $20 million to name The Eric Trump Foundation Surgery and ICU Center in a new $198 million tower under construction on the St. Jude campus. In 2006, Eric Trump, Executive Vice president of Development and Acquisitions at The Trump Organization, established The Eric Trump Foundation, which is dedicated to raising money for the mission of St. Jude. Trump’s foundation will be dissolved and its $1.7 million in remaining funds will be given to other nonprofits, under agreements reached by Trump’s lawyers and the attorney general’s office. Trump also accepted restrictions on his involvement in other charitable organizations. His three eldest children, who were members of the foundation’s board, must undergo mandatory training on the duties of those who run charities.
