Charting Software Newb Question

Discussion in 'Trading Software' started by codetroll, Dec 17, 2007.

  1. I'm attempting to learn/learn more about chart reading as I am currently weak in that area. I've done research on some of the charting software, but am not currently sure the best option to use.

I know best is a somewhat subjective word, but I'm looking for general advice. I've looked into the QuoteTracker software with the data feed coming from StockWatch, which seems to be a decent option, but then again I'm hoping someone can tell me if this is a good option or if I'm heading in the wrong direction. I've also looked into eSignal and Tradestation, but a lot of the options included don't really apply to what I want to do (i.e. I feel I would be overpaying for a lot of services I won't be needing/using).

I'd prefer not to spend too much money monthly. I probably won't be trading on an intra day basis, more of a day to day/ week to week basis, so level II isn't necessarily needed, I don't think. I won't be trading options, futures, or forex...100% stocks, if that helps in eliminating some options.

My broker is currently Sogo and I plan to use them for now for manually entering trades. I'm mostly interested in charting software to help me identify possible trends that I can capitalize on in a more drawn out time span.

If anyone has any suggestions on software/data feed/anything else I'd greatly appreciate it, and yes I've looked at the software section on this site to help me narrow a few options.

    Thanks!
