CDC: Unvaccinated more likely to get COVID-19 a second time https://www.wreg.com/news/cdc-unvaccinated-more-likely-to-get-covid-19-a-second-time/ Health officials say it is important for people who’ve recovered from COVID-19 to get vaccinated. A new CDC study shows survivors who ignored that advice and had COVID are more than twice as likely to get re-infected. (More at above url) The CDC Study... Reduced Risk of Reinfection with SARS-CoV-2 After COVID-19 Vaccination — Kentucky, May–June 2021 https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7032e1.htm?s_cid=mm7032e1_w Summary What is already known about this topic? Reinfection with human coronaviruses, including SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, has been documented. Currently, limited evidence concerning the protection afforded by vaccination against reinfection with SARS-CoV-2 is available. What is added by this report? Among Kentucky residents infected with SARS-CoV-2 in 2020, vaccination status of those reinfected during May–June 2021 was compared with that of residents who were not reinfected. In this case-control study, being unvaccinated was associated with 2.34 times the odds of reinfection compared with being fully vaccinated. What are the implications for public health practice? To reduce their likelihood for future infection, all eligible persons should be offered COVID-19 vaccine, even those with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection. (Full study at above CDC url)
All the people who died of Covid re-infection in North Carolina were not vaccinated. So much for "natural immunity". 10,812 people in North Carolina have had COVID-19 multiple times, 94 died after virus' reinfection https://abc11.com/health/latest-more-than-10k-in-nc-have-had-covid-19-multiple-times/11083144/
Read somewhere nationwide there’s over 2600 Covid deaths in people who were fully vaccinated. Your post means nothing.
I thought you and your cohorts like Jem were claiming Covid infection provides great natural immunity from being re-infected. Yet ALL the reinfected dead people in North Carolina were not vaccinated — and there were no vaccinated re-infected deaths. So much for “natural immunity” — you better get vaccinated.
Double Vaccinated’ Emmy Award Winner Dies of Covid at Age 53 https://trendingpolitics.com/double-vaccinated-emmy-award-winner-dies-of-covid-at-age-53-knab/ Emmy award-winning hair and makeup artist Marc Pilcher, who was recently honored for his work on the series ‘Bridgerton,” has tragically died of Covid at the relatively young age of 53, despite being ‘double vaccinated.’ Pilcher, who died on Sunday, “had tested negative on several COVID-19 tests in order to make the trip to the ceremony,” the NY Post reported. “However, shortly after his return home, he fell sick,” the report added. “It is with the deepest of hearts we confirm that Marc Elliot Pilcher, Academy Award Nominee and Emmy Award winning hair and makeup designer/stylist, passed away after a battle with Covid-19 on Sunday 3rd October 2021,” Pilcher’s family told Variety.
Several months ago (June 2021) in another thread...someone asked a question if anyone knows anyone that had Covid and were later reinfected again ? All that responded here at ET said they didn't know anybody. In contrast, I posted a reinfection story about a military buddy of mine that was infected last year with Covid. He had mild (not noticeable) symptoms. He was stationed in Kentucky. He recovered from his mild Covid infection, retired on schedule, and traveled to Missouri for a family birthday party. He attended the party (maskless) and stayed with relatives. He became sick again and had a more severe infection although it didn't require hospitalization. Simply, he tested positive for Covid a 2nd time. In fact, his doctor had to fill out a "reinfection medical form" and send it to the CDC. I posted the link to those reinfection forms that Doctors must fill out when they suspect reinfection. Guess who quickly showed up to say FALSE ? Answer: Buy1Sell2 Since the above, I now know two more people that have been reinfected with Covid...all from Kentucky. One active duty at Fort Campbell and another in the Army Reserves / Police Officer...buddies of mine. Maybe there's something going on in Kentucky with Covid (could it be getting stronger) ? wrbtrader
Just as with the flu and colds, you can get infected with a new mutation or variation of Kung Flu. This is virology 101 and has been stated by myself and others many times. There is no reinfection of the same strain. We have been in herd immunity on the original strain since late Dec 2020. This is one of the reasons that these lockdowns and restrictions are of no help as they allow politicians to exert influence and destroy American Liberty as far into the future as the eye can see. DeSantis has it right.
Well.... Now I do personally know someone who got Covid twice. They got a mild case of Covid last year and recently got a much worse case of Covid which put them in the hospital. They can best be described as an unvaccinated Trump supporter. Supposedly after their recent bad experience they started to see the light and plans to get vaccinated. Don't know if they did yet. So much for "natural immunity".
The three people I now know that had reinfections...all three of them now have been fully vaccinated. Natural Immunity from a prior Covid Infection plus Fully Vaccinated = Supercharged avenger-like immunity against Covid. The bigger picture, their reinfections occurred less than one year after their first Covid infection...the reinfection had a more severe illness than the first infection although it did not result in hospitalization (except for one that needed hospitalization from his first infection). The other important issue, now under the Biden administration, there's a way for Doctors to report to the CDC about reinfections that had not existed before as shown in your article keeping stats about Kentuckians @ https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/wr/mm7032e1.htm?s_cid=mm7032e1_w Simply, we should soon start hearing more about reinfections across America about those that had recovered from a prior Covid infection to go along with data now being accumulated about those that have been fully vaccinated and then infected with Covid... The CDC / FDA will use that data to better determine when booster shots should be given in comparison to the data about boosters they're getting from other countries. Thus, I think in a few months, they'll have enough data to know which vaccines are giving the best immune responses along with being able to give accurate information about the duration of Natural Immunity (recovery from a prior Covid infection) for Americans (not Israel, not England, not Australia, not India and not Brazil...data for Americans. Now imagine if another Variant of Concern comes along that is much worst than the Delta Variant while these Covidiots are still posting online misinformation / disinformation about Covid or Vaccines... We're fucked as a society. wrbtrader
