    Similarities:
Both COVID-19 and flu illness can result in severe illness and complications. Those at highest risk include:

    • Older adults
    • People with certain underlying medical conditions
    • Pregnant people
    Differences:
The risk of complications for healthy children is higher for flu compared to COVID-19. However, infants and children with underlying medical conditions are at increased risk for both flu and COVID-19.

    Flu

Young children are at higher risk of severe illness from flu.

    COVID-19

School-aged children infected with COVID-19 are at higher risk of Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MIS-C), a rare but severe complication of COVID-19.

    its not just the CDC.
    Doctors have said it.
    Its on other medical websites.

You all are destroying kids lives for something that is less than the flu to healthy kids.
    So selfish.

    I just looked it up...
for the younger kids... this is even less than the flu...

Kaiser Health News examined the claim and found it "mostly true."
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
Florida's COVID-19 mortality rate is 0.02% for people 24 and younger. That's the same as the influenza mortality rate for this age group.

For children 14 and younger, Florida's COVID-19 mortality rate is 0.009%, far below the 0.01% for flu for that age group.

This has been known about the FLU since 1918 when it first appeared as a Pandemic.

Simply, health officials have been warning since the start of 2020 Covid-19 Pandemic that governments need to contain Covid-19 and not allow it to erupt as a 2nd wave during the seasonal FLU season that tends to attack younger people.

The one thing you do not mention...

There's a vaccine for the FLU Epidemic.

Covid-19 Pandemic has already killed +1 million globally while FLU Epidemic kills about 250k to 500k per year. Seriously, Covid-19 will reach its first year anniversary in several months and the estimate is that there will be near +1.8 million dead.

Children are very durable against Covid-19 but not against the FLU. The first FLU Pandemic (1918) the governments did shut down but that's not needed anymore with a vaccine and improved hygiene / water supply since 1918.

Seriously, after they find a vaccine for Covid-19...people will get their annual Covid-19 vaccine shot just like the FLU vaccine shot. In addition, there will be over the counter therapeutic treatments for Covid-19 just like there are for the FLU.

Reminder, governments that shut down or lockdown lite in 2020 did not do such for children. They did it to find time to determine what this disease is and organize a defense / attack against it.
    • Now they've done that...kids are back at school (at least mine are) since early September.
Now its just targeted restrictions against specific problematic communities and businesses. Simply, you're comments seem to be aimed at what happen early in the Pandemic to kids but no longer happening to kids now that they're back at school but require to wear a face mask.

My kids now see face mask as a fashion statement just like they do for any other clothing. In fact, my little one said the cool kids at school have the best looking face masks to wear.

By your logic, you are actively destroying your own kids lives by living in California. That's a personal choice you made.

How long can the media keep the hysteria about covid 19 going?

The world population is 7,800,000,000 people. The approx. Case Fatality Rate is 3%. They can keep it up until 234,000,000 people are dead from COVID. After this there will be little to talk about.

Better hope for the widespread deployment of a vaccine sooner rather than later.

On October 5, WHO emergency operations chief Mike Ryan said about 10 per cent of the global population “may have been infected by this virus”. That is 760 million people and gives a fatality rate of about 0.13 % - or slightly more than yearly flu.
    Most fatalities over 70 years.

The Infection Fatality Rate for the seasonal flu is 0.025%. The Case Fatality Rate for the seasonal flu is 0.1%.

The number of infections is not known and is merely an estimate for COVID or the seasonal flu. The proven Case Fatality Rate for COVID globally is approximately 3.0%. The estimated (and unproven) Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) for COVID is between 0.2% and 0.8%.

You are attempting to compare the estimated Infection Fatality Rate (IFR) of COVID to the Case Fatality Rate (CFR) of the seasonal flu. You are comparing apples and oranges.

One important difference between the novel COVID-19 virus and the seasonal flu -- is that a vaccine exists for the seasonal flu which keeps up with mutations & changes each season -- this prevents the CFR and IFR of the flu from being much higher.
