Today I received an email from IB, titled "Please Upgrade Your Version of Trader Workstation (TWS)". In it they mention: I do understand that CBOE One is a data feed. However, I don't know whether any of the futures and stock tickers I'm monitoring are coming through this feed. So I can't judge whether I indeed need to upgrade TWS/Gateway. I would prefer not to upgrade if at all avoidable as it would most likely require a complete review of my entire code base for automated trading. So my question is: which instruments are being supplied through CBOE One?
Isn't it much easier to just click that "upgrade version" button? Some people are desperate to make life more complicated every step of the way.
The problem is that "upgrades" more often than not make the software slower and less usable, and occasionally introduce critical bugs. That goes for everything, not just TWS.
Not to me. I keep upgrading my desktop version to the newest version each time. Hardly ever had an issue. I am more careful with my mission critical gateway through which my api connects.
If it helps, I got the email as well. I only have one quote line that is NOT coming from CME and that's a vix futures line from CFE - not sure if these are CBOE ONE sourced or not...or if they just sent it to everyone.
The email was sent to people who last logged in with the old version. My mother got an email one but I did not.
"With one product and one license, the Cboe One Feed provides market participants a comprehensive, unified view of the market from all four Cboe equity exchanges: BZX Exchange, BYX Exchange, EDGX Exchange and EDGA Exchange."
IB verifies Java version every time I opened the app, now sure what CBOE One is. Anyway as long as the data is executable, I don’t complain.
