Why are you bothered by this? The tools will still be available.

CBOE is taking the data. All the development used to be driven with the idea of making use of that data.

Data may still be available, but they will have to pass on the costs now. They are just an auto-hedger away from really charging for LVX. You know being an ib with that commission structure can't be all that profitable. I hope IBKR buys LVX. Then, we will have a happy world. Too bad IBKR is staffed with Java people.

In a way, the LVX is not free to LiveVol Securities customers. They charge $0.65/contract for what IB charges $0.50 for. If you trade 1000 contracts per month, you are paying $150/month. 2000 would be $300/month. You can lease LiveVolPro for $300/month and LiveVol Core for only $79/month and get your own brokerage account at any firm you want, including IB.

LVP doesn't have the position analysis and simulated trades that go to immediate order tickets in one click.

I will be modeling with origami figures and wrestling with TWS order tickets. My cost structure and workflow will be whack. I will be destitute.

If you need to do it all with one platform, and you really want IB, you can pay $500/month and get the better rates. Their $0.65 and $0.0065 rate to get the platform for free is only better for lower volume clients that trade under 3334 contracts per month.

The platform will not go away and might even cost less in the future.

Please help me understand "They charge $0.65/contract for what IB charges $0.50 for".

I know LVX min. is $1.50 vs $1.00 at IB.
IB doesn't go to $.50 until 10,001 per month.
    IB charges $.50 for USD 0.05 =< Premium < USD 0.10

You are looking at the tiered rate not the fixed rate.
