I don't follow these stocks, but after reading how this merger was blocked is just idiotic....out of all mergers this one is blocked??? Why?? There have been so many more concerning acquisitions in the past decades that were approved, but 2 retailers that sell handbags raised concerns??? ...Now come on...how many Companies in China and other foreign entities buying up hundreds of US companies and real estate without a problem, but this one blocked. This is just ridiculous https://www.cnbc.com/2024/10/24/jud...-acquisition-of-michael-kors-owner-capri.html
Us steel is still in play but a handbag company for rich guys’ wives and mistresses is anti competitive
Exactly. ..something is way off on this one... Ohh it was alright for tmobile and sprint to merge creating now only 3 top players in the wireless world, but a merger between two retailers selling Chinese made goods, nope, not happening.
Lina Kahn is going cookoo to block all the mergers. This one was going to create like the 9th largest luxury goods maker. Luxury goods don't compete on price. They compete on product differentiation. American and buy US Air. United, Continental. But Jetblue can't buy Spirit and now Spirit is bankrupt.
He lost/made zero. Why...? Because he was just making commentary. Commentary to a great extent keeps the lights on here. You can't see that? Where's your trade reccy's for today Max? One snide remark deserves another no? No disrespect... just pointing that out.
I don't own either Capri or tapestry...I rarely invest in retail. I used to trade RTH etf many years ago....so nope no trade in either...
The answer is simple - lobbying. There are groups of well funded people in DC that can cause M&A of any entities to be viewed in any way they wish. At the end of the day the deal is at the whims of the subjectivity of the political appointees that serve the lobbying industry.
