TD Canada trust is launching a new platform that is from the creators of tos...that's what I was told. Anyway I am using the demo and its basically the same as tos...looks identical, all the same layouts, same option strategies built in, has all the features as far as I can till right now as tos, just a bit cleaned up. Charts are better as I find them horrendous on tos. Even the P/L at open in active trader that shows p/l of current position. Anyway, no conditional orders yet where you can set to buy/sell an option when the underlying hits a target price but should be coming. The best part is we can trade from our Canadian accounts and there is no 25k minimum equity requirement as we have no DTR in Canada. You can probably just call the tos department to try the demo, it will be live I think in Janurary?
Looks just like the 'tastytrade' front end. Let's just say I'm not a fan. ThinkorSwim Schwab, I like.
I'm using tos...it needed a cleaning up imo especially the charting...this TD version has Trading view charts. I will be charting right on the platform now while you are having to go back and forth to some other plaltform lol.
No RTD() which is unfortunate since I have a number of custom applications that use realtime price data from ToS. Looks fine upon first glance but the devil is in the details. We'll see. I've been using ToS for a long time so this will be an adjustment.
First I've heard of it. Is this a step up or a step down from their Advanced Dashboard? any online links to it?
Big step up from advanced dashboard. It's basically tos but cleaned up with trading view charts. Look at the screen shots, you have all the features from tos...even the active trader works the same. Its the same creators...same layout same everything.
https://www.td.com/ca/en/investing/direct-investing/trading/active-trader there's a waitlist you can signup for.
TOS is such a good platform for charting. It sucks that TD Canada clients couldn't use it. Have you tried to register a schwab account? Any idea is there a minimum balance requirement after the demo is finished?
I spent some time with the demo. Need more though. I don't think there will be a minimum, but still waiting for a call back. Canadians can't use American stock brokers.
