Hello, my name is William and new to the forum.

Waiting for my LIRA (retirement money to be unlocked) and trying to find the best broker available to Canadians for momentum trading - first 15 mins of trading day for stocks on Nasdaq.

    Tradezero - seems shady
Interactive brokers - lots of bad threads on fills but don't know if they were using the correct routing
CenterPoint lite - only has two routes available.

I have trading for 5 years and have $120 000 ish on confirmed wins and
170 000 ish on confirmed losers

    I obviously need help LOL

While I'm not an expert in trading - I AM an expert in nutrition, body re-composition, hormones etc. - I have been working out and keeping updated on the newest trends for 37 years. I have trained hundreds of friends and family over the years and can help anyone with their goals. Most importantly sift through the maze of misinformation on the internet! I work as a Oil field consultant and don't train people for a living so I'm not trying to sell anything LOL While under quarantine - the barter system is king lol!

  2. "momentum trading" - have you backtested this strategy? I think stocks that pop up a lot in the first 15 minutes are more likely to go down than keep going up. Don't trade without an edge.

Thanks for the reply - haven't back tested the strategy but I KNOW if I hadn't had the terrible buy fills that occurred after the green candle, half-way into the next red - I would be profitable. Canadian bank trading platforms are HORRIBLE for this strategy. We all must trade with what matches our personality and this strategy does for me. I don't disagree with anyone else but everything I had achieved in my life has come from outworking and taking a bigger risk than the average person is willing. Again thank you for your input. I have tried more patient and intelligent strategies but end breaking due to my impatience. I'd rather fight it out with the movers of the day that have proper catalyst.

  4. Paper trade until you're green 3/5 days a week, 3/4 weeks a month, until then your broker choice won't matter. Us Canadians are stuck with IB or centerpoint unless you want to work for or partner with an international firm.

Ya thanks guys....but I know how to trade - I have approx. $125K winners and about $170K losers...The bad fills have killed me...just asking if anyone trades in the first 15 min of Nasdaq with a Canadian broker than had good fills..

More specifically - using IB or others with direct routing.

  7. I specialize in the top 10 weighted Nasdaq stocks, minus pep, and I actually avoid the first 15min unless I have reason to believe the stock opens severely undervalued. Unless you mainly trade google, amazon, and tesla (market makers kill intraday traders on the first two stocks) then your fills aren't the problem... But if your concern is fills go with Centerpoint or join a firm, as they will offer sterling, laser, das and you can see live dma with level 2 quotes. You'll need at least bats, nsdq, arca. Add EDGX/EDGA if you trade the 3 stocks I've mentioned.

Thanks for the reply! Yes I have narrowed it down to CenterPoint (they accept Canadians) and using their FAN route for quickest fills but their require $30K deposit. I trade more like Ross Cameron style with Warrior trading but I also get in pre market. I was fishing for anyone experiences with IB - mostly I have read of dozens of bad fills stories on the first 15 min. I didn't want to want to transfers funds without doing some feeling around. Thanks for everyone's input but a little too condescending for me LOL! By the way for other comments - simulators do not actually show fills times so it is useless for style of trading but thanks for the obvious help LOL! Why is the smarter people have to talk down to people when they explain themselves? I make $300K at work as a oil consultant and I'll ask a engineer a specific question and he won't even actually listen to the question and waste 15 minutes of my time explaining shit I already know!? :)

    Been fun

  9. It's better to be a dick and make casual traders question their abilities rather than give them benefit of the doubt and let them fail. The 2 main issue with Ross' style is that he always buys too late into confirmations and scalps /exits too quickly. Quite difficult for people to duplicate his trades. I can't speak for IB personally on poor fills first 15min but experienced people I know say the same thing so I assume it's true.

Your going to get the same fills give or take a couple pennies every broker. Their might be some slightly better prices in some darkpool but lit exchange is the lit exchanges.

125k winner and 175k losers is not knowing how to trade. That’s slowly bleeding out.
