We are willing to take California off your hands, so you can stop complaining how disappointed you are in it's performance as a state.

As a California land owner, I approve this plan.

I'd say we should rejoin Mexico but it looks so.. HOT.

You might get the UK to join too.

Thinking about it, if Brits had the same migration flexibility they have with Canada as California, it could work out really well. Greenland would get in on this because then they have a nuclear umbrella.

Canada and the United Kingdom have established special arrangements to facilitate migration between the two countries, particularly for young individuals.

    Canada-UK Youth Mobility Arrangement

In July 2023, Canada and the UK signed a new Youth Mobility Arrangement, enhancing opportunities for young people to live and work in each other's countries. Key features of this agreement include:

    • Expanded Age Eligibility: The age range has been broadened from 18-30 to 18-35 years, allowing a larger group to participate.

    • Extended Visa Duration: Participants can now stay for up to three years, an increase from the previous two-year limit.

    • Additional Streams: For UK nationals moving to Canada, two new streams have been added to complement the existing Working Holiday category.
This arrangement is part of Canada's International Experience Canada (IEC) program, which offers three categories:

    1. Working Holiday: Provides open work permits, allowing employment with any employer in Canada.

    2. International Co-op (Internship): Offers employer-specific work permits for students to gain experience related to their studies.

    3. Young Professionals: Grants employer-specific work permits to gain targeted work experience relevant to one's career path.
These programs aim to promote reciprocal work opportunities and cultural exchange between the two nations.

    Customs Cooperation

Beyond youth mobility, the UK and Canada have also entered into agreements to enhance customs cooperation. In March 2023, an agreement on Customs Cooperation and Mutual Assistance in Customs Matters was presented to the UK Parliament. This treaty aims to facilitate trade and ensure efficient customs procedures between the two countries.

These agreements reflect the strong bilateral relationship between Canada and the UK, fostering both economic collaboration and cultural exchange.

I sometimes go winter camping in the Olympic National Forest with a few friends who retired from the 2nd Ranger Battalion (Joint Base Lewis–McChord in Washington). These are guys I became friends with when Fort Campbell, KY sent me to Fort Lewis, WA for training.

In 2015 they joked about California, Oregon, and Washington secession from the United States to become another province of Canada because they felt Canada would lower dramatically the violent crime rate, give them universal healthcare, free water, low cost electricity, improved child care benefits, increased life expectancy, better border security for southern California, and improved wildfire fighting.

It was serious talk back then and one of them wrote letters to U.S. politicians on the West coast about it. Not once did he get a reply. In contrast, three of us bought a 2nd home in Canada. :D

Today, Trump and Gang are firing federal workers, threatening to withhold federal funds to those states, and bullying allies...now some politicians are talking about those states becoming another Province of Canada.

Apparently, about 1/3 Canadians are in favor of helping those three states in comparison to only 1/4 Americans in favor of having Canada as another state after Trump's threats.

Also, a popular destination for Canadians who want to attend college in the United States...3 of the top 10 destinations are universities on the West Coast (USC, Stanford, and Cal Berkley) and there's a growing number of Asians living in border communities in western USA/Canada while crossing the northern border for employment (e.g. living in Canada while working in the U.S. or vice versa).

Secession talk isn't just on the West coast. It's also talks in the Northeast United States too.

New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont.

In my opinion, secession of the above mention states from the Union is no more realistic than Trump's talk of Canada joining the Union. :p :D
