Will Trump ever attempt to tackle crime in the US ? Millions in jail of which about 70% will be back in jail after serving time within a short period. 100s on Death Row eating up tax payer's money sitting uselessly in jail for decades. He reckons he is a tough guy ? Well let him prove it here for starters. Clear Death Row down to 6 months max for lawyers to get fat on appeals and then...…… Let the disposessed family pull the switch if they want to. A good flogging for minor crimes like burglary etc. would reduce the prison population by half within months. Fraudsters are made to repay the money stolen plus a hefty fine for the state's trouble. 3 strikes and …..………..
Totalitarians are famous for locking people up. It's started with illegals and the random protester already. People won't take notice until it's political enemies and reporters.
Authoritarian culture is spreading. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/former...ns-up-about-resignation-trump-administration/ June 28 Government agents surprise former ICE spokesman at his home During the interview at his home, some three months after he quit, Yuccas and Schwab were interrupted by a surprise visit from men who said they were agents from the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General's Office. He was "completely shocked" to see them. Schwab said his conversation with the agents had to do with Oakland's mayor. "Did you ever contact the Oakland mayor's office?" Yuccas asked. Men who identified themselves as agents from the Department of Homeland Security Inspector General's Office show up unexpectedly at James Schwab's door during an interview with CBS News' Jamie Yuccas CBS News "No. I've never met her before. I never contacted Libby Schaaf," Schwab said. "Never. I would never tell her. I would never tell anyone...They were very serious. He was very stern with me, and it was concerning." Schwab said it was "absolutely" an intimidation technique.
To get back to that so called golden era he needs to try and stop the whole idea of crime and violence spreading. Where money is not the God of the many but just a few around Wall St. Think of the billions he could save the tax payers by getting to grips with crime or does his system of chaos call for more upheavals ? To many getting caught is just an occupational hazard. A few years behind bars and off again with plenty of new ideas.
This is why people laugh at Americans. I'm not sure that desperately and by any means possible holding on to naivety is the answer anymore.
Dude. You need to understand how the federal and state governments work in this Constitutional Republic.
I grew up in Long Island near Christopher Morley Park and regularly visited the little hut where he did most of his writing in my youth. I probably know more about Christopher Morley than everyone else on this forum. The quote above is from Inward Ho! which he published in 1923. This book is full of quips and quotes about the necessary attributes for a man to possess and basic situations one encounters in nature. One example - "Humor is perhaps a sense of intellectual perspective: an awareness that some things are really important, others not; and that the two kinds are most oddly jumbled in everyday affairs." Another - “Even the most innocent of men's affairs seem doomed to cause suffering. Pushing the lawnmower through tall wet grass, and enjoying the strong aroma of the morning, I found that the blades had cut a frog in half. I have not forgotten his eyes.” Inward Ho! from Morley is basically a list of quotes and essays related to exploring America. As always he explored suffering, alignment with nature, and his prose tended towards the poetic. He also regularly promoted literature and books. The particular quip in the meme above (from memory) is attributed to an Englishman who views Americans as uncouth barbarians. The Englishman is later demonstrated to not have the skills necessary to survive out in the natural landscape of the American West. The Englishman is deemed by others to be a woman who does not even possess basic domestic skills such as laundry which would make him useful. In context of the times which Morley wrote his commentary is an interesting take on the attitudes of society.
