Can someone living in the US with no visa open an account with TD Ameritrade?

    Hi,

    I would like to know if it's possible to open a trading account wit TD Ameritrade for an
    illegal alien living in the USA?

    He has his own TIN number, as fa as taxation.

    1. Just try it, it is online so what is the worse that can happen? They reject the application.

    Brokers don't generally ask for visas.

  7. Just open your account with your country of residence, fill in the W-8 BEN form and be done with it. Why the hustle ? But you gonna need fresh residence papers,bills, utility etc to give, also a bank account

    He has to do it as if he is outside the usa.

    As a European no, I heard that Canadians can do it and some other countries like Singapur etc. TDA didn't want to comply with ESMA reporting/rules (wasn't worth the hassle), but once the Schwab Merger is done, Europeans can get the TOS platform via Schwab.
