A police officer pulled over a self-driving Waymo vehicle in Phoenix after it ran a red light and pulled into a lane of oncoming traffic, according to dispatch records.

The incident took place on June 19, but local media including Arizona Republic released bodycam footage of the traffic stop this week, showing the vehicle weaving in traffic before eventually pulling over into a parking lot. The footage also shows the officer’s point of view as he walks up to an empty car.

Every screw up a Waymo car makes is far more costly to them that a traffic ticket.

America used to be the land of innovation, embraced and celebrated. But today's innovations are challenging the 100 year old entrenched pioneers that have built the country to their image. Suddenly, innovation is distrusted and ridiculed even when we invent it. We've become the worse of conservativism and watch as the rest of the world moves on to create the political economic framework to stimulate further innovation.

Yes it has long been established that a property, an inanimate object can be charged for a crime in a court of law in the United States.

I was serious. Ultimately, many will be on the road and when mishaps happen, there is no law on how to deal with it. Read on:

The dispatch records (which are written in all caps) say the vehicle “FREAKED OUT” and that the officer was ultimately “UNABLE TO ISSUE CITATION TO COMPUTER,” according to Arizona Republic.

You are too pessimistic about America and democracy.

America is diverse and getting more so everyday. We have lots of checks and balances and getting a consensus takes time. In a free society, eventually the best idea will prevail, it just takes time.

Even autonomous vehicles have license plates and registered owners. The summons would need to be delivered to the owner by other means since they weren't present when the infraction occurred. Most departments have policies for this although every officer may not be aware.

I don't believe that. I believe that, he who has the power makes the rules. Always been.

What if a self driven taxi is left with an open container in it?
