Hi ET, Newbie here and this is my first post. I've been using thinkorswim software for a while to do paper trading and I like the software a lot. I recently tried using das trader for paper trading but didn't find it to be nearly as configurable as ToS when adding studies. Is possible to use any software with any broker? For example, I wanted to use suretrader as my broker but I wanted to use ToS with them instead of das trader. Is that possible or are you stuck with whatever software the broker provides? Thanks!
No. TOS is only available at TD. They bought them a few years ago and changed their policy. At other brokers, you can only use what they make available.
Simple work around. Use prefered program (TOS) for charting, then enter trade on brokers platform. Mote point doing this with suretrade; As a US citizen/resident they won't open an account with you. If you are trying to get around the US day trade $25,000 min rule, you might look at futures or forex where those rules do not apply. Good luck - Lou
