Can I be responsible for warrants if I short stock?

Discussion in 'Trading' started by jayr95241, Dec 14, 2020.

  1. Hey everyone,

In the past, there was a rights offering on a stock that I was short. I ended up being short the rights as well as the stock.

If I am short a stock offering warrants, will I be responsible for any warrants?

    Any insight would be appreciated.

You are responsible for all corp actions involving distributions. Rights, warrants, spinoff, div and any other split distribution as well.

    Yes.

For example, it happened to with EXPE in 2003.

  5. Thank you, when I look up corporate actions, warrants do not show up...Maybe because warrants are issued to new shareholders instead of existing ones?

Board decides who and why on warrants.
