California bill would let pet owners write off thousands If you own a pet, you’ve likely cringed after getting a vet bill. A state assemblyman wants to ease the financial burden of pet ownership with an income tax credit that allows Californians to write off half the money they spend on vet costs up to $2,000 per year. The credit is limited to costs for dogs and cats. (Sacramento Bee)
...Geesh, it's cheaper to just cut your losses -- put it down, and get a fresh new baby pet; You'd think us traders are rational, and think more with our heads then our hearts.
I actually agree with is if you know for a fact the animal is going to die soon. A friend of mine spent over 4 thousand bucks keeping his little best friend alive, and he admitted later it was for his own feelings, and not for the dog. It died during the treatment period, and suffered in the mean time.
I don't agree with having an animal suffer, for $35 bucks put animal down, people and pets die, be happy other people and pets touched one's life in time we have with them. I had to put my cat down after living for 17.5 years, cat was longest relationship than women, LOL, he was glad to see me when I came home. For four grand, you can buy one heck of another pet or ten, regardless of relationships, we are like renting our time with other creatures..
