Noticed recently that you can now do this. (Currently only Bitcoin, Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash and Litecoin) Anyone looked into this? I'm guessing it might not be the cheapest way to buy and sell (higher transaction fees?) but it's convenient if you already have a PayPal account, and at least there's less chance of losing your coins.
It's been out for a while. It's a huge success for PayPal, they do hundreds of millions of $ worth daily You cannot lose the coins since you cannot withdraw the coins at this time I believe PayPal is working on allowing withdrawal of the coins in the future
That would be best in my case. Knowing my luck, I'd either end up losing my wallet or holding them on an exchange which goes bust or gets hacked. Of course, also knowing my luck (at investing), if I start buying then the crypto market is f*cked. So, it might be in your best interests to dissuade me.
IBKR is the cheapest as always in terms of fees. I hear Robinhood is pretty good too. Webull is pretty high tho. IBKR uses Paxos. $75 to transfer from IBKR account to Paxos in order to withdraw to wallet.
Paypal has a high bid ask spread on crypto. Also be aware that they can lock your account without notice or reason. I was locked in a sizeable ETH position for about 2 weeks and unable to sell. Luckily it went up during that time.
It's a very accessible way to buy crypto for many on a platform they are familiar with. As such you pay for that convenience with high fees.
Venmo (Paypal owned) had an offer to buy $25 crypto, get $25 in cash. First time I ever bought crypto. Yeah I'm late to the game. But if I'm going to put decent amount of money, it's either IBKR or Coinbase Pro. The world of crypto is quite byzantine. I looked into getting some FLOKI but the newest coins can usually only be obtained by swapping out the main cryptos (ETH/BTC) for them, using a network like Uniswap or Pancakeswap. Gotta be careful out there, watching a guy on YouTube saying he was hacked for $30k in crypto because he linked his wallet to some network to make a swap.
Only thing been Is the fees are higher but makes it much more convenient especially if you use btc deposits with a broker
