Got my laugh for today. So next crisis we not only get more fresh trillions in QE, but this time negative interest rates. This is going to be the icing on the fu@king cake. Cant wait to see this excitement unfold. But in reality I think the fed unleashes negative interest rates and QE well before the next crisis and collapse comes. Why stop the party now when you can keep it going for another 3 or 4 decades. Just keep printing trillions, expand the balance sheet and give us negative interest rates now. Gotta keep those 401ks juiced up to the max so that those consumers can feel good and spend more to keep the fat economy ever going. Bubble ben bernanke should come back and play fed chairman again. Keep the bubble forever growing and growing. Hes great at printing trillions and making wallstreet happy. Ben Bernanke says the Fed shouldn’t rule out using negative interest rates PUBLISHED MON, JAN 6 202011:38 AM ESTUPDATED 5 HOURS AGO Jeff Cox@JEFF.COX.7528@JEFFCOXCNBCCOM KEY POINTS Former Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke said over the weekend that the central bank should consider using negative interest rates during the next downturn. Bernanke helped pioneer some of the extraordinary measures the Fed used to pull the economy out of the Great Recession. In addition to negative rates, he endorsed aggressive asset purchases known as quantitative easing. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/01/06/ben...t-rule-out-using-negative-interest-rates.html
yep.And more and more money will destroy itself or ceate a new monster. THis will never be diverted since QE and Negative rates first came out.
it will end, but at the price of full economic collapse. We are at least a decade or few from it. Next downturn will be stopped with QE to infinity and negative rates. After that no more bullets in Feb chamber. Nothing to worry in short term.
Have to wonder how the Fed envisions this period in financial history ends... ?? Powell tried to restore some sense of sanity with paring down the Fed's balance sheet some and raising rates, but the market and Trump threw a hissy fit. So... if we're never going to "take our medicine"... is it just balls-to-the-wall money-pumping until the debt bubble collapses and everybody defaults on everything? Where would that leave us?
Fed policy will become more and more obscene until the world finally calls into question the tool that makes all of this financial chicanery possible...the electro-fiat US dollar. The only way this ends is if the dollar breaks a lot lower and/or US sovereign yields surge.
So... everybody whose assets are denominated in $USD gets their buying power destroyed and the high interest rates cause everybody to default on their bonds/loans? Geez... that IS good monetary policy! Sounds like a turmoil maker.
