Hi All, Has anyone tried or has an account with public.com? They say they don't charge any commissions for options trading - https://public.com/invest/options I currently used TOS and tastytrade. I 'm curious about public.com with regards to options trading and would greatly appreciate your feedback. Thanks, Michael
We're not going to do the homework for you. https://public.com/about-us Don't be lazy, and READ IT!! FFS!
Don't feel obligated to respond if you don't want to. You still responded on your own accord. Go take it out on someone else. My ask was for feedback from people who have used the platform on the pros and cons. If anyone asked my opinion of tastytrade or TOS, I would gladly share.
I do not have an account, and I have never used public.com. But out of curiousity, I spend about five minutes perusing their website. I could not find any information as to whether they offer accounts to business entities. My conclusion, from other types of information found on their website, is that they do not. The site says that the do not currently offer custodial accounts (for minors). It also says: Currently, at Public we don't have the ability to add a beneficiary or link multiple members to the same account. That said, we’re always working on adding new features. If you'd like to get notified if adding a beneficiary becomes available, just give us a shout and we'll be sure to let you know. Based on this, it appears that they don't even offer the ability to open a joint account. And you can probably forget about an IRA, too. For someone just starting out, who wants to play around with a few thousand dollars in an individual account, this might be a great broker. But the limits on the account options are a deal breaker for me. Oh, and they don't offer accounts to anyone other than US citizens, permanent residents, and those with a visa that allows them to get a social security number.
Public.com is offering some really kinky products under the category of alternative assets. The example are some sort of in-house proprietary vehicle that buys things like rare sneakers or a single work of art. WTF? https://public.com/invest/alts#section-directory-6 What the hell are these things? Some sort of closed-end fund? "Invest like the top one percent?" Excuse me? I don't think the top one percent are buying shares of a sneaker collection for 90 cents per share, in which the IPO was 771,301 shares.
Thank you for your feedback. I reached out to find out more regarding options trading. There is not much that you can do at this point; they are rolling out features as we speak. We will just have to wait and see.
I decided to ignore their alternative assets because I am primarily interested in their options trading platform. They say their options trading is free, however, the features are limited. Once all features are enabled and their options trading is still free, the. I might give it a try. I really appreciate you looking into it and providing your thoughts and feedback.
