Hi, I plan on opening a trading account for normal stock trading and for short selling penny stocks or general mid to micro cap stocks. My main problem is that most brokers dont have accessible Easy-To-Borrow lists. Maybe some of you have accounts at the following brokers and can tell me about their experiences, especially concerning short selling or even shorting penny stocks. Charles Schwab TD Ameritrade (thinkorswim) TradeStation Lightspeed Trading (SureTrader and IB are out for other reasons) Which one can you recommend for my purpose and why?
This is the wrong place to ask for advice on penny stocks. They are a No No to discuss. They do not want penny stock promoters coming to this FINE site. If I were you I would look at http://www.timothysykes.com . They have a broker list of who you are looking for.
oh ok. I already came across Sykes, but he doesnt say anything to Schwab, TradeStation and Lightspeed. Besides, I wouldn't trust him 100% when its about brokers, as he is sort of promoting Suretrader which is kind of a rip off when it comes to fees and perhaps not even legal for US citizens. Thats why I wanted some advice from other people as well
Sykes is the site to go for what you are looking for. I am a habitual short seller (hate buying anything) so I can say what he preaches is good advice. But since his strategy is not scalable he gets kick backs from affiliate programs that he partners with. There is nothing wrong with that because just about every company sells data, referrals and so on. The brokers you mention get kick backs from selling order flow to market makers. I did look into Sure trade and yeah fees are high but they have access to hard to borrow small cap securities. The big catch is it is not for US residents so it is up to you to file your taxes properly. But that is something that you and your accountant need to discuss.
The good thing is I am not a US citizen But I've heard bad stories about SureTrader. If anyone made some experiences with short selling at Tradestation, Lightspeed or Schwab I'd love to hear about them
