Broker Dilemma

Discussion in 'Retail Brokers' started by Incognito89, Apr 16, 2019.

  1. I am a futures trader who likes to keep it simple. I only use order flow, inter-market correlations & pivot levels as variables of my strategies. I have a huge dilemma on which broker would be ideal for me; ninjatrader or tradestation? (only brokers being offered through topsteptrader) Which broker offers the best executions/fills? I only use footprint charts as an 'indicator' if you may call it one... so I'm looking for a simple platform with no lag and great fills, that's all. Any suggestions?

Order Flow: Sierrachart or Bookmap over Rithmic.

MotiveWave has extensive order flow tools, including footprint charts, as well as pivot points. You can connect your TopStepTrader account to MotiveWave. We also support Tradestation and CQG (which is the connector for Ninjatrader accounts).

  4. Hey guys, I'm good with my current setup. All I asked for was, which broker would be better in terms of order executions & market data. Would it be Tradestation or Ninjatrader? I've read some bad things about Tradestation, even though they were the first in the game. Any suggestions?

  5. Is Ninjatrader worth purchasing? as I can trade on Tradestation for free via topsteptrader...

Long ago you needed to buy Tradestation and constant upgrades had to pay, there were many limitations, as soon as Ninjatrader came out, I bought that and was happy to retail degree of 500 symbols max, version 8 is incredible upgrade and free till you go real time, but they lack symbol sizes. I had what I needed changed several years ago to be done in python, but we still been designing systems in Ninjatrader 8, much harder in the beginning but saves on lines of programming. Most likely would work for you, try the sims, no loss if you don't like it. I would never go back to Tradestation, their support was awful years ago.

    Good trading.

The best feed'n'fill in my experience is on TT, then PhotonTrader. Hasn't touched TS in a decade+. tried NT a few times, but stayed with my choice.

P.S. There have been too many complaints from my buddies about TS lately. In particular, both the feed and fills...

I use TS (Rel 10.14) as one one of my futures brokers. It has been fast, stable, & reliable with good support. Not to mention free market data & platform.

There are probably faster platforms that may have more programming potential, although it may come with an expensive MRC & you will need to be proficient with C, R, or Python.

Here is a review that sounds fairly objective:
