2 minutes ago BREAKING NEWS Russia's Black Sea Fleet has given Ukrainian forces in Crimea until 5:00 local time (03:00 GMT) on Tuesday to surrender or face an all-out assault, according to Ukrainian defence ministry sources quoted by Interfax-Ukraine news agency. "If by 5am tomorrow morning they do not surrender a real assault will begin on units and sections of the Ukrainian armed forces all over Crimea," defence ministry officials are quoted as saying. I'm no expert with this part of the world, but it seems Putin intendz to drive out the rebels from the peninsula of Ukraine where all the Russian weapons are kept. Not a bad idea, considering they are probably funded by the CIA

Crimea is Russia's warm water port and an absolute necessity to Russia's navy. Putin can not allow that to land into the hands of NATO. His only option is to seize it now amid confusion. Ukraine will end up being a negotiating chip, allowing them to keep the port with their independence. Russia needs a functioning economic Ukraine, but the warm water port is a no brainier, Russia will fight to keep that. This should have been seen way in advance, and imho has been, what we are seeing is a nice dramatic play where everyone gets to keep face.
