[Breaking Q] something might be wrong in my IB screen

Discussion in 'Interactive Brokers' started by jk90029, Feb 12, 2015.

  1. Dear-

Around 10:09, a few minutes ago today, below is the IB screen capture.

Since my AXP was bought (acquired) at $41.1 around 9:30 this morning and currently price shows >$81, I guess the fourth line SHOULD BE PLUS. However the screen show MINUS -$234 in PnL.

    A) Is it due to my lack of reading knowledge in TWS screen?

    B) Or possibly screen bug OR IB Bug?

Forgive me if I made a mistake. If I am correct, the fourth line showed PLUS between 9:30 and 10:00

  2. I am a strictly equity trader only buying long position. Was it possibly buying SHORT accidentally? Where and how can I find it in TWS?

  3. Look at the pnl under Account in the Portfolio section, that will give you the current pnl based on your acquisition price and whatever they use as the current mark (indicated). The pnl column in TWS is daily pnl relative to yesterday's close, not since the start of the position, and in particular it can be screwy if you buy in the pre- or after-hours at a meaningfully different price than yesterday's close.

The position column would indicate if it was short. It certainly is a long position.

  5. On which planet did you buy AXP for $41?

I'm just making a wild guess here, but I suspect that the OP has more issues to deal with than his TWS screen.

  8. Certainly it is my mistake but the attached photo explains all. $41 should be changed to $80.1.
