BRCM covered calls to cut cost of a decade long marriage?

Discussion in 'Options' started by nixodian, Jan 25, 2016.

  1. I have been married to BRCM since ~a decade ago, it has been a tumultuous marriage, I have 200 remaining, and have been doing nothing with it. Since the earnings are coming up I was considering selling covered calls, preferably above the current price, but looking at the option chain in near month it looks most unattractive. Do you have any idea how to cut cost basis? even if recommend selling the 200, wouldn't it be best to sell a covered call, even ITM?
    suggestions , thanks.

Sell 2 call contracts ATM. The ATM calls would give you the best premium.

    :)

  3. thanks Option Guru, do on the day of earnings or as close to market close as possible right? How about month? as Feb16 ATM has no bid!
what are your opinions on BRCM?

yeah but the premiums suck for the risk your taking holding that stock and there seems to be no market for the options. Better to dump the 200 shares and move on.

Options like 700+ days away close to ATM have an IV of like 4.1% That is less than the S&P 500 and this is a single stock.
