Bomb-proof backpack with Laptop sleeve

  1. I have a backpack from 2003 that's met it's match. It's been around the world three times, Europe and on vacation (Caribbean, etc.) more times than I can remember - I take it everywhere. It's a sailing brand so it's somewhat waterproof and the laptop section is exceptional. I've emailed the manufacturer and they no longer make that exact model any longer.

The other nice thing about the bag I have is that it's extremely sporty, rugged, totally bomb-proof, etc. yet absolutely professional. It's turned into my "go bag" to keep my laptop, iPad, external HDD, a few cables, it fits a full size keyboard, mobile USB external monitor, etc. It's my mobile office and as much as I can chuck it down below on a wet sailboat without thinking what it'll land on or in - I can also put on a suit and carry it into a hedge fund and it doesn't look out of place. (it also helps that I won it as a runner-up prize at a sailing event so it's a conversation starter if I'm questioned about it)

So with all that said, does anyone have any ideas of a totally bullet-proof laptop case/bag? It can be a over the shoulder deal like a briefcase (similar to many Timbuk2 bags or Patagonia) or a proper backpack. Budget is limitless, I'd pay $300 for the right bag and I'll keep it for the next 10+ years just like this one. I like the idea of a backpack just because I do travel quite a bit and it's nice/easy to use as a carry-on, backpack, briefcase, etc.

Open to any thoughts. I've checked North Face, Patagonia, Timbuk2, etc. and haven't found anything that I like.

  3. Thanks all! That'll get me started! I've found a few others as well and will update when I look at them as well as make a purchase!

  4. LOL! To prada. . Tumi alpha bravo line are extremely well made--- I do agree-- the low end Tumi are garbage. Interesting bags you list, I was unaware of the brand.

  5. Tom Bihn bags are carried at State and have a cult following. Indestructible. I have two.
