I wouldn’t own BA at any price God forbid there is another crash you wake up to a down 50% or more stock price. Then with the manufacturing shutdowns and lawsuits it might be better for BA to just declare BK and start over.
One moat they have, is they also do secret government deals/contracts. It's not just civilian aviation, so there is some diversification there...
all the money the US dept defense has been spending (trillions) over the last several years hasnt seemed to prop Boeing...which is both odd and a bad sign
Yeah. The US govt will let one of the largest defense contractors and the only US branded commercial aviation company go out of business. Boeing is a page 1 shareholder of the US Government.
Your sentiments are commendable, but now fading into the fog. I think I have read that the ChiComs want to "own" that business. The short legacy story of air travel is that Churchill and FDR had some kind of a deal (Industrial Policy deal). Britain would build the fighter jets (Spitfires), and Americans would build the "heavies" (bombers, always B-something). The engines were either Rolls Royce or Packard. All top shelf. The heavies became Boeing. It's the biggest single export market the U.S. has. ChiComs want it (either for the heavies or the export credits). Either way, doesn't matter. BA is is like a marked man. And the chart looks terrible too. In my humble opinion (IMHO).
what’s a chicom? While Boeing has a commercial airplane problem, airlines only have two choices and the waitlists for planes is in the decades.
Yes I know BA has a huge order list, but the new hegemony calls. It's the final stages of the Bretton Woods Agreement, with our post-1963 generation of Professional Politicians, as Joe Kennedy Sr. had predicted. It's the U.S. debt that is calling the shots now. Like a guy who makes $80K but has $100K on the Visa + mortgage + car loans + kids, etc. Very little leverage to punch back. ChiCom = Chinese Communists. We have Russian and we have Chinese, probably others too. Take your pic.
the wood system was in place because we at the time had 35% of the world gold reserves while everyone else was fucked by the war damage. now everyone is coming back from the dead, including china. boeing is a dead cat, just like ge, still profitable but not enough talents.
