Notice how the three don't look especially big or lean in the interview, although Mike and Ray look a bit stocky. Of course, they all had serious physiques when contest-ready. Also interesting is that Ray said he only worked out for about an hour and a half a week at the most. And he was not a natural bodybuilder.
Bwaaaaah! I'd love to see that interview and see if Ray was able to keep a straight face. Total BS on both claims.
Hmm. The video was removed by the uploader. Here it is again, uploaded by someone else: Ray seems to have a straight face when he says it. What was the other claim you referred to?
I always get a kick out of the Mentzers playing pseudo intellectuals. Couple of maroons. Never cared for Boyer's physique after 69/70, additionally he was a juicer in High School.
Can't comment about Ray, although I read that he was a funny guy, and very strong. As for Mike, I think he did a service to the field by turning down the volume (and frequency). It is arguable that he went overboard towards the end with his consolidated routines, but at least he contributed to moving the needle back from the other extreme. Having said that, I do agree that, listening to him talk in some YouTube clips, he did lean a bit too much on those hefty $2 words, and tended to say in 50 words what might have been explained in 10.
