"Nasdaq Inc. and broker Cantor Fitzgerald LP are looking to join the rush on Wall Street to trade bitcoin, which to a record on Wednesday.
Nasdaq aims to launch bitcoin futures in the first half of 2018, according to people familiar with the situation.
Nasdaq’s bitcoin contract would debut on Nasdaq Futures, or NFX, a marketplace that the New York-based exchange group launched in 2015 that until now has mainly focused on energy trading, according to the people familiar with the situation.

One of the people said Nasdaq is trying to differentiate itself from rivals CME Group Inc. and CBOE Global Markets Inc.—the two Chicago exchange groups that have announced plans to launch bitcoin futures—by designing a futures contract that better tracks the world-wide price of bitcoin. "

This one is a good point from Reddit:

"Not a net gain. Who will now buy bitcoin (as a buy and HODL investment) when you can just put the money into bitcoin futures and profit 10 fold off bitcoin moves? Oh, you just made a 100% return in a week holding bitcoin? I just made a 1,000% return in the same week with bitcoin futures and I don't have to put up as much money as you.

Everyone will sell bitcoin to buy bitcoin futures now."

The existence of futures is going to make the pain of getting bitcoin disappear and people with less money can play it much better than owning cryptos.
