If they were making positive returns and profitable, why would their prime broker demand for more money and threaten to close their account if they don't come up with more money? Their account should have been well-funded with their profit, why would they still need to put in more money? That to me sounds like a margin call. Did anybody try to find out why they needed to "raise capital" when they were making 100% positive returns? And besides even if their prime broker doesn't want their business anymore, why didn't they just go to another broker? I mean if they are able to make money, they can make money no matter which broker they are with.
I know (or knew) Su many years ago, not as a friend but just some industry peers. He is smart and legit.
