What are your thoughts? https://www.mynbc5.com/article/vermont-bill-would-ban-cellphone-use-for-anyone-under-21/30456265# Vermont bill would ban cellphone use for anyone under 21 A bill seeking to ban the use of cellphones for anyone under the age of 21 was introduced by a Democratic state senator this week as legislators gathered in Montpelier for the first day of the 2020 legislative session. The bill, introduced to the judiciary committee by Sen. John Rodgers (Essex-Orleans), would make the possession of a cellphone punishable by up to one year in prison, a $1,000 fine, or both. Rodgers writes within the proposal that cellphones are a large factor in teenage driving deaths and can lead to bullying and radicalization. "In light of the dangerous and life-threatening consequences of cellphone use by young people, it is clear that persons under 21 years of age are not developmentally mature enough to safely possess them," the bill reads. "just as the General Assembly has concluded that persons under 21 years of age are not mature enough to possess firearms, smoke cigarettes or consume alcohol."
Ain't it the truth. Can vote for people who will determine how the rest of your life will go, but can't light up a smoke or have a phone.
This will never pass or hold up to even a paper thin challenge. Also how fucktarded is this, what if I showed statistics in VT that most cell phone accidents while driving were caused by people age 25-40...then what would the mentally challenged politician say...
"(3) The Internet and social media, accessed primarily through cell phones, are used to radicalize and recruit terrorists, fascists, and other 2 extremists... " Yep. Just what we need. Take away all these teens' phones, and they will be forced onto their computers, where they have access to WAY more tools to radicalize and recruit terrorists. So I guess you will have to put them in prison for accessing the Internet from their computers, also. What a silly bill. John Rogers needs to be fired, if that is possible, and sent to a mental institution for evaluation for a few years, for he is truly off his rocker if he thinks this bill makes one lick of sense in any dimension of reality.
I wonder if you can get a religious exemption. You know, for example, if you belong to a religion where teenagers use cell phones to touch off IED'S.
