1.In the ES futures contract...Most of the time now days, the Bid/Ask volume is ~ 100-200 contracts per price on the DOM. I can recall when the market depth was 2000-4000 contracts per price! 2. The NQ futures contract has all but dried up.... averaging ~ 10 contracts per Bid/Ask price during RTH.... and overnight there are literally 1 and 2 contracts bid/offered per price. (Hey.. the NQ is a world-wide market... and there are only 1-sies and 2-sies playing?) Bottom LIne... "Real Money" is shunning this market for now. Thin markets are less liquid and therefore more risky. FWIW...
%% NO wonder= summer volume tend to be lower. Monthly volume looks like stock traders looking @ real estate/LOL I tried to sell some TQQQrelated last week, but price was to low.Weekly volume + price look much better today. NPR reported mortgage late pays/forclosures= 8%, sounds real high; but except for N Mex/N J; about average. N Mexico @34% seems to be goofing the foirclosure averages. A SDOW good trend does not mean TQQQ goes down...…………………………………………………………….
Es still trading 1.5-2 mil contracts a day which is still heavy vol compared to the last few yrs on avg
That's actually closer to average. It means there are LOTS of (new?) small players driving prices now... you know, the "Robin Hood" effect ('cept they have to pay fees and commish to trade futures, you know.) Frankly, I've been a bit surprised at the volume handle considering the size of the players...
%% And like the multi year trader commentedexit entry today; good volume/LOL/true. Cash market looks even better; if I do or do not miss some dividends this month cause I did an entry/ exit or exit /entry- that's life...…………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
I actually take that as a good sign. Let me explain. As Hafez so elegantly (?) stated, daily traded volumes are still healthy. If you bid or offer for size on the market - you will get filled. If during prime NY hours you are best bid for 5,000 and SPY downtics you will get filled. This is a guess - but if there are fewer bots and algos playing spoofing games with order books IMO that's a good thing. Maybe that's a shallow wish but there it is.
