If the bids are being taken out, is this the sign that the stock is dropping? Sorry for the newb question . Any help is greatly appreciated

You have to be more specific. If it's simply 1 price level being taken out, markets usually exhibit strong negative autocorrelation on the next price change so you'll have better odds on the the level replenishing or mean reversion.

so if it keeps getting taken out, it means the price will go down

some traders can completely control a market at will for various periods of time up to several hours.

contrary to where the market actually and eventually will resume so never make such assumptions.

  7. How does that happen?

as Tessa/Databento said previously - you have to be specific.

For instance, bid keeps getting taken out and moving lower or keeps getting taken out and staying there for the most part? At the open? While news is released? Lunch hour? During Globex low vol or fast vol trading periods? Etc etc.

  10. Hmm. That would be market manipulation. Would it not?
