I wrote this in another thread, but it also deserves to be posted down here.
Where the f is @UsualName, Tony, Exgoper's and even Freddie's outrage over this? Ocho?
I mean lets focus on things that are really important... not boys and girls sharing the same bathroom laws.
How are you gonna justify this one @UsualName?
    I can't wait to hear.

    My post:

Do you remember a few years back, the NCAA banned tournament events in N. carolina over bathroom rules?

And not to get political but didn't Georgia ban a bunch of stuff over whatever happened after the election?
    The MLB All-Star game?

That's all well and good... but there are over 1 million native (like our American Indians) Uyghur 's in NW China being held in concentration camps, and these people are being raped, murdered and tortured. This is not bs. It is really happening.

Yet Biden is letting us go to the Winter Olympics in Beijing in February?!
Our Fortune 500 companies are sponsoring this event?!
Wtf am I missing here Stoney?
The word "hypocrisy" doesn't even come close. We're worried about a bathroom law to the extent that the NCAA bans the final four... but people are getting tortured raped and killed... and we turn the other cheek? Wtf?
Is it me, or does this seem pretty f'd up?
    Whatever.

Maybe @easymon1 will make one of his nice collages for this post. It needs one.

Well if it's really happening, we barely heard a word about it until the anti-China rhetoric was turned up a few years ago. Cautiously sympathetic.

Yeah well, when it's being reported by journalists around the world, including some of Bloomberg's best... I think it's safe to say it's happening.

In its far western region of Xinjiang, China says it’s fighting separatism and religious extremism among Uyghurs, a Muslim ethnic group. To some outsiders, it’s building a 21st-century gulag, combining police-state repression backed by high-tech facial-recognition systems with old-fashioned internment camps and re-education techniques culled from the Cultural Revolution. A United Nations assessment said anywhere from tens of thousands to “upwards of 1 million” Uyghurs have been detained. As the scale of the crackdown has become clearer, the international outcry has grown, with the U.S. accusing China of committing genocide.

The number and size of the camps has expanded rapidly since 2016 — one analysis based on satellite imagery puts the tally at about 380. Chinese authorities call them “voluntary education centers” to purge “ideological diseases. Foreign news outlets and human rights groups have reported physical and psychological abuse on a massive scale, with Uyghur citizens in the camps forced to disavow their Islamic beliefs, praise the Communist Party and endure solitary confinement. Documents obtained by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists revealed instructions from top officials on how the camps should be run as high-security prisons, with strict discipline, punishments and no escapes. While China says it’s been closing camps as people “graduate,” rights groups say those who are released face continued oppression while others have been charged and moved to higher-security facilities. The Uyghur population is under intense surveillance, with residents having to submit to facial scans when entering markets or fuel stations. Officials have banned “abnormal beards,” religious names for children and observing the traditional day-time fast during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. The analysis using satellite imagery estimated that 35% of mosques have been demolished and a further 30% damaged in some way. Xinjiang lies at the heart of the Belt and Road Initiative, President Xi Jinping’s flagship project to boost trade between east and west, and the government is spending vast sums building up cities and transport links along it.

but lets worry about whether or not we should have bathrooms for trannys.
380 concentration camps. Millions of people.
    Gimmee a break. It's hypocrisy.

The West has an effective propaganda machine. Just remember how the Taliban started to get bad press after they turned down a pipeline around 1998.

China’s treatment of the Uyghurs is beyond criminal. But then again the CCP places basically zero value on life, which should give everyone pause.

Why certain politicians and certain corporations suck up to China....... well we known the answer. Money.

You're right, it does. The NY Times ignored Hitler's barbarianism right up until 1945 when our troops, and Russia's troops, marched into the concentration camps and exposed the atrocities .

I sincerely doubt 100's of respected journalists are all getting together over tea at brunch to make up some elaborate tail. Do a photo-search on Google. Are they fake too?

And we're sending our best there to compete in the Olympics.
    That's bs.

Too bad Jesse Owens isn't still alive.
Wonder what he'd have to say to President Biden.

I'm guardedly sympathetic, like I wrote above.

  9. Go throw out everything in your house that was made in China or comes from China....before throwing stones :).

If the U.S. politicians boycott the Olympics, the other countries will not give a shit and the Olympics will still go on but thousands of athletes who have nothing to do with politics will have to stay at home after 4 years of training.

There are other ways to speak out about what China is doing but the Olympics is certainly not the way.

Also this has been going on since 2016 and trump was pretty quiet on it as well so simply saying Biden is being weak is a little naive.

Also please explain to me the argument that people can only care about the issue that bothers you but if they focus on anything else they are hypocrites haha

So U.S. politicians are shitty for focusing on issues in their own backyard over what is happening in China?? When did we elect thte MLB to address Chinese treatment of Uyghurs....

To illlustrate my point, imagine the media said "GOP spent all its time giving tax breaks to the rich rather than fighting for the Uyghurs in China..."

Well, I knew when I wrote that someone would say "but Trump...."
He's not President anymore, and Biden was elected for change. Right? Right.

Comparing taxes and 100 or so athletes to a modern day genocide is not apples to apples.

And f what the "rest of the world" does. We should lead.
Let our athletes compete in Atlanta or N. Carolina and invite the rest of the world.

Sorry Ocho, you're not going to change my mind on a f'n genocide buddy.
