Man threatens to cut, shoot Brooklyn Home Depot customer, latest in surge of disturbing anti-Asian crimes in NYC By JOHN ANNESE NEW YORK DAILY NEWS | MAR 30, 2021 AT 5:53 PM A racist brandished a two-by-four and yelled anti-Asian insults at a man at a Brooklyn Home Depot last week amid a disturbing surge of anti-Asian hate crimes, authorities said. The 28-year-old victim and his girlfriend were shopping at the Home Depot on Gateway Drive in Starrett City about 7:40 p.m. Friday when a stranger holding a block of wood began menacing him, cop sources said. Home Depot on Gateway Drive in Brooklyn (Google Maps) The suspect told the victim’s girlfriend, who isn’t Asian, “Why you with that little d--k Asian n----r?” sources said. He then threatened the victim directly, warning, “I’ll cut you, you f--king Asian. Don’t call anyone. I’m a Blood, I’ll shoot you,” sources said. The victim reported the incident to police Monday afternoon and the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is investigating, cops said. I remember the first time I heard about the "knockout game". It was in 2013...the attacker that threw the sucker punch...claimed it was due to mental illness (bipolar). Yet, it had occurred much earlier...those involved were two white teenagers and a Hispanic teenager. They killed a foreign college student that was studying in the United States. September 23, 1992: The Nashua Telegraph newspaper reports that the alleged attackers have been charged in connection with the murder of Yngve Raustein. They are named as Joseph Donovan aged 17; Alfredo Velez aged 18; and Shon McHugh aged 15. They were said to have been playing a game called knockout.
