Biden says unemployed offered jobs must take them or lose benefits
    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/biden-says-unemployed-americans-offered-181318409.html

U.S. President Joe Biden on Monday defended himself against critics who say expanded unemployment benefits offered in the COVID-19 relief bill passed in March are keeping Americans from taking new jobs.

Biden said the administration will remind U.S. states this week that any unemployed American offered a comparable job must take it or risk losing unemployment benefits. He is also directing the U.S. Labor Department to work with states to reinstate requirements that those receiving unemployment benefits must demonstrate they are actively looking for work.

"If you're receiving unemployment benefits and you're offered a suitable job, you can't refuse that job and just keep getting unemployment benefits," Biden said.

Republican lawmakers blamed a bad jobs report last week on the Democratic president's decision to offer expanded unemployment benefits through August. Some Republican governors have scrapped the added benefits, directing the additional dollars elsewhere.

How does the government know if you are offered a job, again?

You have to report each week on the employers you reached out to seeking employment in order to get your unemployment payment.

Um, ok. So I report my applications to jobs I want, but don't get (Fry cook applies for pilot) but then the ones I don't want, I don't report (Fry cook wants chef position, and gets accepted)....how does the government know?

Or skip the second part altogether because I just want the UE check.

You have to be applying for suitable jobs. Your unemployment office will be glad to provide you with a list of open positions which are considered suitable for you.

  8. It's an easy system to scam because there isn't anyone checking. If you want to put in any token effort you just go to some jobs internet site and send a couple resumes to employers you know won't hire you due to the horseshit resume you put together with limited skills shown and unreasonable demands for wages and benefits. Or, you can just pick a couple places and report that you did send a resume. Isn't anyone to to call up that employer and ask if you sent something, and even if they did you just blame the post office for losing the mail. No way to track that. Bottom line, if you want to it's a free ride till the money runs out.

Yeah we’ll employers are miraculously able to offer higher wages as soon as they find out they actually are dependent on people to work at their businesses. Tough cookies.

I say let the unemployment run for another year and clean the whole mess up.
