Don’t mess with Google. That’s the message that more than 200 people have learned the hard way, after the arm of Alphabet Inc. GOOG, -0.71% GOOGL, -0.78% imposed temporary digital death sentences on them for reselling their new Pixel smartphones in violation of the terms of service. Bargain-hunting blog Dan’s Deals first reported the crackdown, which started Sunday and affected people who bought Pixel smartphones from Google’s online store and sent them to a reseller in New Hampshire, who marked up the prices and paid them a part of the profits. Looking to make a quick buck turned out to have a stiff price — once Google figured out the scheme, they disabled the Google accounts of the original buyers, blocking them from Gmail, Google Photos, Google Drive, the Google Store and other services.
