Better than 5 seconds candles

Discussion in 'Forex' started by salamanderforex, Sep 18, 2020.

  1. Hello,

On IBKR best timing of candles are 5 seconds. I understand there is sales history etc but they are not animated like candles. Is there a way to get like 1 second candles or a candle for each transaction?

1- I like to get faster updates for Forex. How to get that in TWS? If not possible there how about data from other places?

2- I hear people have servers co-located with brokers (?) or exchanges (?) for better faster data and order placement. I mean "The Hummingbird Project" movie.

    Thanks,

for Esignal, you can select 1 sec, 1 tick, or 1 volume.

  3. Worth the subscript Maxinger? ;)
What do you see the biggest advantage in it to be?

It is good to start with free charting software, and chart based on time.

As you progress, you might want to consider better charting software and chart based on volume.
There are software like Esignal, Sierrachart ...
One thing I can do with paid software is that I can open multiple charts,
and I sync the mouse crosshair on all charts.

  5. Get Sierra Chart. All problems solved.

  6. Thanks for the input.

    - What do you mean sync mouse crosshair across all charts?

    - If you are using esignal (or other), how many Book Orders Depths do they all you to open for forex and for stocks? Or they just give charts and no book order depth.

    Thanks,

I have no idea what you doing, but would bet it will fail. 1 sec candle is way too slow for HFT and way too fast for anything else.

Apparently 4 second charts get superior trading results than 5 second charts.

But as others have said, get Sierra charts or Ensign for Windows, both can handle those ultra short term charts.

Not sure that candle charts and HFT can go in the same sentence...

  10. What services / subscriptions or tools do you suggest for HFT?
