Best way to trade two accounts simultaneously

Discussion in 'Interactive Brokers' started by SoCalOptionsWriter, Jan 24, 2023.

  1. I have a small IRA and my regular brokerage account. I'd like to make the same trades in both but four times as many contracts in my traditional account as in the IRA. What is the best way to set this up on the IB platform? iBot hasn't been helpful and I'd rather not wait a week for a message response from IB. Thanks in advance for any help.

2 computers 2 logins, assuming you are copying same trades between 2.

  3. Yeah, I thought about this, believe it or not. But then I was wondering about their family and friends functioning if it was worth any hassle it might be to set it up.

You can use two separate browsers on the same
computer, this will allow two separate sessions.

  5. Use an automation program like Alera:

    https://aleratrading.com/

Get a license for each account with API enabled and send the corresponding orders to each account. You would need to login to each IB account using IB Gateway.

The Alera API is straightforward and there are examples of scripts on the Alera forum.

I'll bet a Bloomberg Terminal has various options that allow you to be logged into multiple accounts simulatenously...

But I'll never know LOL 'cause I could not possibly afford that service

Bloomberg terminal allows trading through a Bloomberg brokerage? Wow, I did not know that.

    I don't think Bloomberg operates a brokerage.

But the BB Terminal has some sort of interface or API that allows you to place orders, and I believe it is compatible with almost every major broker.

I don't know how it works. I've never used a Bloomberg, or seen anyone else use it. But the basic idea is that you can place orders from within their platform, in their proprietary application, in the same space where you access news and other features of the service.

The analogy for us would be something like the idea that you can trade, access your bank account, send and receive e-mail and also read news on CNN all in one application: a browser.

But somehow I think Bloomberg's all-in-one platform is a lot more sophisticated and customizable than a web browser LOL
