Best performing asset of all time, a banana

Crypto entrepreneur (of course), Justin Sun buys a banana as art for 6.2 mill.

Since a banana costs like 5-10 cents in some parts of the world, this is easily the best performing asset, replacing Bitcoin.

Now if you allow me, I have to go out and buy as many as I can...

Oh, it is a fake, not the original art.

"The actual Dole banana taped to the wall of Sotheby’s on Wednesday evening was bought earlier in the day from a nearby fruit stand on the Upper East Side of Manhattan for 35 cents."

Justin has a fine taste in art:

"Sun, the winner, has spent millions on traditional and digital art. His collection ranges from a 1947 sculpture by Alberto Giacometti, purchased at auction for $78.4 million in 2021, to a nearly $600,000 NFT of a pet rock."

    He is also potassium deficient:

"Sun, who watched the auction from Hong Kong, added that “in the coming days, I will personally eat the banana as part of this unique artistic experience, honoring its place in both art history and popular culture.”"

  4. I miss the days when cryptoboys started buying pictures of monkeys. That was fun.

Whoever came with the idea found a very easy way to label an idiot.

I want to thank the federal reserve for making this happen. They are the reason why this auction even came to the public...

Thank you federal reserve for creating an economy filled with dumb money!

    Please keep printing those trillions.

The sellers must have been laughing non stop for the past few years.

The buyers must have been weeping and gnashing their teeth non stop for the past few years.

I love when these art elites come up with this ridiculous ideology of what the art stands for, sort of showing the public what they believe it stands for when in reality they haven't a fucking clue what the artist is doing or what they are thinking.

Cattelan, often regarded as a "trickster artist," frequently intertwines humour with the a macabre. Jones suggests Comedian could provoke introspection about broader themes. such as the darker sides of human history and contemporary life. The banana itself is a potent symbol, representing global trade, imperialism, labour exploitation, and corporate power. "It's a perfect metaphor for the moral complexities and inequalities embedded in objects we consume without much thought," she notes.

  9. There is no "barrier to entry" for this kind of art.

We should soon see a TON of "banana duct-taped to background" NFTs!!

  10. Things like this are probably tax fraud, money laundering, etc.

In a few years I expect that banana to get donated to a museum as a tax write off.

Like the Podesta's pee camera getting donated to the Guggenheim.

You want to buy something you legally can't buy so you buy a ridiculous piece of "art" at a totally insane price.
