I'm just getting back into options trading after a few years on the side lines. I've been paper trading with success and I now want to reopen an account and make basic directional plays only in futures options. In the past, I had a full service broker that was charging me $30ish per option. I couldn't trade the way I want to trade with that kind of cost involved. I know there are a ton of discount services now that allow one to trade an option for less than $5 all in.

Was hoping that I could get some advice as to which one I should look at. I'm basically wanting to trade approximately 50-200 options per month in futures and I only use daily price action. basically hold each option from 3-10 days.

This is my first post in this forum. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

  2. While I do NOT trade Futures options, I am aware that TOS's "standard?" fees total about $2.83ish per Contract including commissions and fees. (too expensive for my interest). Others trade IB and get under $2/contract after commissions and fees (I seem to recall about 1.60, but could be 10cents off), but do not recall if it requires specific account trading volume or not @IB. (Those are /ES options, so unclear if other futures options are the same)

It is helpful if you disclose that next time as your regulators limit your choices to those brokers that are registered in Canada. You will get less responses that don't apply to you.

  10. Lightspeed looks the cheapest these days so long as they pass through rebates.

I think IB is on all major OSes now with an API everyone likes to complain about. Can't speak to LS.
