Best News API

Discussion in 'Data Sets and Feeds' started by TheBulldog, Aug 16, 2024.

  1. Greetings,
May I please get some recommendations for the best news API's. I really don't care whether it's free or paid. I just want a reliable news feed. I'm currently feeding from Polygon.io as a part of my market data subscription, but I have a hunch that it's lacking so I want to compare it to other feeds.
    Thank you in advance.

When I was trading fulltime, I used Newsedgev8 by Acquire media. It was bought by Moody's. It is now called NewsEdge Alerts. I have a contact there if you want to email me directly. https://newsedge.com/alert/

  5. Thank you Robert for the Moody's recommendation. I contacted Moody's and discovered that they've got a very good feed. It's a bit pricey for me at the moment, but I will likely integrate it at a later time.

legitimate question as a father of techno-fundamental trading i wasted 20 years with ned davis style studying as well as using the NDR service. in the end i found that the news was at best a coin flip for honesty - so how do you get reliable news - i would like to know if the 250k a year spent on NDR service was somehow available dependable accurate at lower cost.

in plain english, maybe you know something i don't about accuracy of news?

Knowing the news ahead of time also does not insure how markets will respond / move. Often it does the opposite - or at least moves very big in the opposite initially.

Sure if they were getting full details of a company's earnings report.

I saw his topic more as an inquiry to general market news (econ #'s, etc.).

As an aside - he won't be getting that information ahead of time. He'll be getting it as it comes in just like everyone else.

I have never understood why some here do not come up with solutions when someone needs help finding a tool. They only tell them it is a waste of time. I think news is important. I used a streaming window, but some use the API to trade breaking information. If they can set up code to evaluate that, go for it. It is not my place to say it won't work because I can't do it.
